Leith Hill Music Festival - 8th & 9th April

Enjoy a feast of choral music in two concerts performed by the choirs of the Leith Hill Music Festival – a gathering of singers that was first held in 1905 under the direction of the great English composer and conductor Ralph Vaughan Williams.

On Friday April 8th Beethoven’s expressive Mass in C will be contrasted with the energy and colour of Festival Conductor Jonathan Willcocks’s own work The Song of Mary; while on Saturday April 9th the music is high-octane with Bob Chilcott’s A little Jazz Mass, your favourite songs from Gershwin’s – Porgy and Bess and a rousing finale in John Rutter’s Feel the Spirit.  Both concerts also feature the professional chamber orchestra Southern Pro Musica and professional soloists including internationally acclaimed music theatre star Melanie Marshall.
